JD Edwards – System Renovation

A collaboration between a Cole Thompson and a JD Edwards system engineer to redesign the JD Edwards modules used by Clearwater Paper, a paper production company. The goal of the project was to improve the company’s usage of JD Edwards and reduce unnecessary subscription costs.

The project began with an internal audit of how different departments within Clearwater Paper were using JD Edwards. Cole and the system engineer worked together to identify areas where usage could be improved and unused modules could be removed. They then worked with each department to understand their specific needs and how they were using the system.

Once the audit was completed, the team used the information gathered to design a new, more efficient system that better met the company’s needs. This involved identifying the necessary modules, configuring them to meet the company’s requirements, and testing the system to ensure that it worked correctly.

The final step was to communicate the changes to the internal teams and provide training on the new system redesign. The goal was to ensure that all employees knew how to use the new system and that it was adopted smoothly across the company.

The project was endorsed by the CIO of Clearwater Paper and was a combination of internal auditing, systems design and improvement, and communication with internal teams. The end result was a system that better met the company’s needs and saved the company tens of thousands of dollars per year by reducing unnecessary subscription costs.
